Data protection and privacy statement

Kalypso Media Group GmbH, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße 11-13, 67547 Worms, Germany, (referred to as: "Kalypso") believes protecting your personal data is very important. This statement explains how any personal data we may collect from you or about you will be processed and protected.

Responsible office

The responsible office is Kalypso Media Group GmbH, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße 11-13, 67547 Worms, Germany.

If you would like to access the personal data we’ve collected about you, or to correct or update your personal data, you may contact us at anytime by sending an email to info@kalypsomedia.com. We will edit your personal data as soon as possible.

Statistical use of data

We automatically collect some personal data whenever you visit our Internet resources. Among the personal data we automatically collect are your IP Address, your Internet browser information, the date and time of access, the name of the data you looked up, traffic data and the name of the website you came from. Weblogs and other communication data are analyzed in order to improve the protocols of our web pages.

The collection, analysis and, in some cases, recording of this personal data is mostly an automatic process, which aims to improve and manage our web pages. These data points are also collected and recorded in order to protect our services from misusage.

We will also use these data points to improve our services and offers.

Collection of personal data

Whenever you use the Kalypso Launcher (http://launcher.kalypsomedia.com) to download bonus content or to buy new content, we may request the following information from you:
  • Email address and password
  • The product key of your Kalypso Media games
  • Information about your hardware
This data is collected, recorded and used only to provide you with the services you are entitled to.

To participate in the Kalypso forums, you need to register for a forum account and log in with a user name and password. You will also have to provide an email address. Your email address will only be used to validate the registration of your account or, if the need arises, to send you a new password for your account. We take this opportunity to remind you that, when you participate in a forum or any other form of discussion, any information you communicate is also available to other people. It is in your best interest to only divulge needed information, and to be very cautious about what information you communicate and to whom.

Kalypso does not communicate your personal data to any third party, without your specific consent, unless it is needed to provide you with the service you are entitled to. Kalypso retains the right to communicate your personal data to sub-contracting third parties to enable the performance of contracts you are party to. For instance, Kalypso works with Paypal as a third party payment service.

We will disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our Terms of Use; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Kalypso, our clients, or others.

Use of Facebook Plug-ins ("Like" button)

On our web pages, you may find Plug-ins from the social network "Facebook" (www.facebook.com), which are managed by Facebook Inc. Facebook Inc. is located 1601 South California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA.

If you visit one of our web pages on which such Facebook Plug-ins are displayed, a connection between your Internet browser and the Facebook servers will be established to determine which of our web pages you visited. If you click on a "Like" button while you are connected to your Facebook account, this will allow some content to be displayed on your personal Facebook profile.

To know more about the collection and usage of your data by Facebook, please check the Facebook privacy policy at the following address: http://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/

Cookies / Google Analytics

We use cookies and Google Analytics on our websites. A cookie is a small text file that the web server sends to a browser, containing information to identify a user. That means cookies can for example recognize whether a user has already visited our websites before. It can also call up information from the user’s last visit, such as a user name and password for the forum at www.kalypsomedia.com.

All our websites also use Google Analytics, a web analytics service by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so called “cookies”, i.e. text files that are downloaded to your computer, making it possible for us to analyze how you use the website.

The information generated by the cookie (based on your use of the website, including your IP address) will be sent to a Google server in the US where it will be stored. Google then uses this information to assess your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity for website operators and to provide other services related to website activity and internet usage.

Google may also transfer this information to third parties if required to do so by law or if these third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Under no circumstances whatsoever will Google associate your IP address with other data stored by Google.

You can block the use of cookies by using the appropriate settings in your browser software. Please be aware, however, that this might result in you not being able to fully use all functions of this website.

By using this website, you consent to the processing of your data by Google, Kalypso Media or other third parties who are partners of Kalypso Media in the aforementioned manner and for their purposes.

Information received by email

If you give us your consent to do so, Kalypso will use the email address you provided us to send you information you requested, such as newsletters.

To send you newsletters or other information by email, we need a valid email address from you. You may freely register to our newsletter service and opt-out from it.

Kalypso uses a "double opt-in" process for the registration to our newsletter service. This means you will receive newsletter or other information by email from Kalypso only: 1) after you register for the service and 2) after you confirm registration to the service by clicking the appropriate link in a confirmation email. Through this process, we can make sure you really provided us with your email address and it wasn't sent by a third party. For security reasons, the confirmation link will only be valid for a short time after we receive your registration request. If you do not click on the confirmation link on time, the request will be deleted from our database. Until you click on the confirmation link, no other query will be sent to this email address.

When you register your email address to Kalypso for such service, we may use this email address to send you information about Kalypso or about our new offers, if you agreed for Kalypso to do so. Of course, you may freely cancel your subscription to our services at any time (by sending us an email, for instance). Every time you receive information from Kalypso, or in any newsletter you will receive from Kalypso, you will be reminded you may opt-out of the service and how to cancel your subscription.

In order to contact us

To contact our customer support, you may use our web pages, but you also have access to an email address and a telephone number. The personal data you freely provide us by email or by telephone may be used and recorded by Kalypso Media.

The personal data which is collected when you contact Kalypso Media will be used strictly by our customer support to provide you with answers to your queries. Most emails will be deleted after your queries have been answered. In some cases, we may keep records of some data and/or information, if we have sufficient reasons to suspect a misusage or to comply with legal obligations.

Links to external websites

Sometimes, you may find links on our web pages leading to external or third party web pages, which are not operated by Kalypso. We cannot take any responsibility for the content of those external/third party web pages, even if we provide a link to them. Any content displayed on the external/third party web pages is the responsibility of that external/third party web pages operator.

This privacy policy is only valid for Kalypso Media web pages. We have no control over the content or the privacy policy of external/third party web pages, and we do not operate them. We advise our users to thoroughly read the specific data protection and privacy policies of these websites.

Disclaimer

By visiting our web pages, you confirm that you understand our data protection and privacy policy, and that you agree to these terms.

Validity of the data protection and privacy policy

Kalypso Media may amend or update this data protection and privacy policy at any time. In case significant changes are made to the way your personal data will be collected or used, we will warn you in advance.

If you do not agree to the terms of this data protection and privacy policy, please do not visit our web pages.

This data protection and privacy policy is effective September 1, 2015.
